The deadline for entries to the upcoming 18th annual James Weir People's Choice Exhibition has been set at Dec. 15, 2000. Entry forms are available at the Weyburn Leisure Centre, Weyburn Public Library, and the Signal Hill Arts Centre. The exhibition, which will run from Jan. 1-31, 2001, gives local artists and craftspeople to display their work to a large public audience at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery in Weyburn. Gallery visitors throughout the month cast votes for their favourite piece, and those pieces which recieve the most votes are recognized in a special reception on Jan. 31. Entries are welcomed from artists in the Wheatland Souris Region, which includes the following communities: Weyburn, Stoughton, Radville, Lang, Milestone, Fillmore, Wilcox, Cedoux, Corning, Pangman, Trossachs, Griffin, Ceylon, Goodwater, Minton, Lake Alma, Oungre, Yellow Grass, Colgate, Creelman, Forget, Gladmar, Hardy, Heward, Khedive, Hansworth, Kronau, Lajord, Parry, Osage, McTaggart, Ratcliffe, Talmadge, Tyvan, Tribune, Beaubier, Bromhead, Colfax, Davin, Estlin, Froude, Gray, Lewvan, and Maxim. The exhibition is sponsored by the Weyburn Arts Council and the Southeast Saskatchewan Association of Culture, Recreation, and Sports (SESACRS). |
