Two Weyburn fire fighters and a city police officer will receive exemplary service medals from Lieutenant-Governor Lynda Haverstock on Thursday, Nov. 16. The provincial vice-regal will present the medals in a private ceremony at the fire hall. The recipients include retired fire fighter Stan Dillen, Deputy Fire Chief Murray Sabados and Constable Marcel Roy. Dillen served for 21 years as a volunteer fire fighter in Weyburn before retiring due to health problems. Deputy Chief Sabados is currently serving with the Weyburn Fire Department, where he has served for the past 20 years. Const. Roy is a serving member of the Weyburn Police Service, and has been on the force for 20 years. The medals are presented on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, and are awarded for 20 years of service which is deemed to be of good conduct, industry and efficiency that serves as a model for others. The medal presentation ceremony will not be open to the public due to limited seating in the fire hall. |
