Three temperature records were broken or tied in October, as the month's weather was slightly warmer and drier than the long-term average for the city of Weyburn. The low temperature record for two successive days, Oct. 4 and 5, was broken as the mercury dipped to -9 C both nights. The prior record for Oct. 4 was -8 C set in 1988, while the record for Oct. 5 was -7 C set in both 1954 and 1988. A high temperature record was tied this month, as the thermometer reached 26 degrees on Oct. 18, tying the record set in 1963. This was also the warmest temperature of the month this year. The coldest temperature recorded in October was -10.5 on Oct. 7, which was not a record. The average high temperature in October was 13.5, up from the long-term average high of 11.9, while the average low was -0.3 compared to the long-term average low of -1.1. The overall average temperature was 6.6, up slightly from the long-term average of 5.4. The city received a total of 17.6 millimetres of precipitation in October, which is down from the long-term average of 21.6 mm. |
