The WIT Wings played in a tournament in Estevan over the weekend, and came away with the first-place trophy. Their first game was against Swift Current, which they won by a score of 6-4. Braydon Regier came out with a pair of goals, and singles were scored by Mackenzie Sanders, Zach Watson, Tyler Penny and Brittan Calibaba. Assisting were Sterling LaBatte, Calibaba, Sanders, Penny and Adam Ziegler. Jeff Davies was solid in goal. Weyburn's second win was against the Regina Rangers by a score of 7-5. Justin McDonald put home two goals, while Nick Zielke, LaBatte, Ziegler, Calibaba and Colton Jensen all scored singles. Assists went to LaBatte, Calibaba, Sanders, Chris Borgen, Wagner, McDonald and Calibaba. Tanner Erickson was in net. Weyburn came out strong in the third game, winning 5-3. Sanders, McDonald, Jensen, Calibaba and Regier all scored, assisted by Penny, Calibaba, LaBatte, Jensen and McDonald. Erickson was kept busy in net. There was no stopping Weyburn in the final game. The first period saw Borgen, Sanders and Wagner all hit their marks. Two more goals came in the third period by Sanders to wrap up the scoring. Assists went to Wagner, Sanders, Penny, Borgen, Deck and Calibaba. Erickson took home the win with a strong performance. |
