The senior girls' volleyball team at Midale Central School made it to the provincial championships for the first time in the school's history over the weekend. The team earned its berth at the tournament held in Cabri by beating out seven other teams at the 1A District Playdowns held in Midale. The Midale team has had a successful season with an overall record of 56 wins and 25 losses. They won a gold medal in Oxbow, defeating seven other teams, and took home the bronze medal at the 12-team Unity tournament. At the provincials, coach Roxanne Riess said her girls played very well, but the competition was very tight and the games were all close. They had four wins and eight losses in the round-robin, giving them a record of 0-5, with many of their matches going the full three games to decide the outcome. The result was the girls were shut out of advancing to medal play, as only the top three in each pool move on to the playoffs. |
