The Weyburn area received a record amount of snowfall in November to more than double the previous record, and a new record low temperature was also set in the month. With the bulk of the snow, plus a trace of rain, falling between Nov. 1 and 6, Weyburn received a total of 101 centimetres in November, compared to the previous record of 41.8 cm set in 1996, according to the records of the city's weather station at the filtration plant. These records go back to 1952. The temperature record for Nov. 12 also fell, as Weyburn recorded -23, breaking the prior record of -22 set in 1966. The coldest day of the month was Nov. 13, when the thermometer dipped to -25.5, although this did not set a record. The warmest day of November was Nov. 1, when the high reached 5.5 degrees. The average high temperature in November was -4.4, down from the long-term average high of 0.9; the average low was -12.1, down from the long-term average of -9.1, and the mean temperature in November was -8.2, compared to the long-term average of -4.1. The long-term average for precipitation is 15.4 cm. |
