A hair-raising experience

Sarah Christopherson, 3, gets a little static crawling through a barrel at The Family Place recently. Her sister, Madeleine, 5, followed her through. The hair-raising play happened while the children were busy in one of the play rooms at the family resource centre. The Family Place is a busy place this week after all Weyburn area schools closed for the holidays on Dec. 22; with Christmas over and New Year's coming up, the centre will continue to buzz with activity as parents look for ways to keep their young ones busy.

Boot bounty

The bounty of donated boots collected by Weyburn's podiatrists from Dec. 4-18 is dropped off at the Salvation Army, Dec. 19, to warm the feet of those who can't afford them. From left to right are John Howery, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which also helped in the boot collection; Salvation Army Capt. Gerald McDonald; Dr. Isobel Guerin-Stewart, a podiatrist with the South Central Health District who organized the boot drive; and Brian Barker from the Church of Jesus Christ.
