Learning about scratchboard art

Weyburn artist Shannon Hoffmann shows examples of scratchboard art to Grade 3 students from Stoughton Central School on Friday. The class toured the James Weir People's Choice exhibition at Signal Hill, which includes work by Hoffmann, then tried their own hand at creating some art before casting a vote for their favourite work of art. Voting at the exhibition will continue until Jan. 30, and the winners will be announced at a reception at Signal Hill on Jan. 31.

Members of Team Saskatchewan, from left, third Laurie Secord-Humble, skip Scott Coghlan, lead Leah Birnie and second Murray Humble, have a brief huddle after their loss to Nova Scotia on Saturday which eliminated them from further play at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships. Coghlan was later named as skip of the All-Star Rink for the championships, which wrapped up on Sunday at the Colosseum.
