Co-op Sonics pose with pride

The members of the Co-op Sonics get their dream picture with the Stanley Cup, Saturday night at the Colosseum between periods at the Weyburn Red Wings game. The Co-op Sonics were one of four Weyburn minor hockey teams to have their picture taken with the holy grail of hockey after winning a draw. In the back row from left are coach Gerald Hippe, David Corrigan, Orrin Wick, Zach Douglas, T. Dartige, Andrew Klatt, Josh Forsgren and coach Morley Forsgren; in the front from left are Tyler Rainey, Dustin Dreis, Michelle Corrigan, Justin Hippe, Curtis Bourassa and Bodey Scrupps. The other teams chosen were the Hoium MVP Leafs, Weyburn Legion Royals and Weyburn Rangers. The cup was in Weyburn Saturday as part of a five-city tour of the province, organized by the SJHL.

In need of a home

Weyburn Humane Society junior volunteer D'Lee Goertzen plays with Blackie, a domestic short haired cat, Thursday. Blackie is one of 24 cats and 18 dogs that are up for adoption at the shelter. D'Lee and several other youngsters volunteer their time at the shelter weekly to comfort the animals and help with their basic care.
