Building up the dike

City of Weyburn workers lay down sandbags on a plastic covering over a dike at River Park on Saturday morning, in case the Souris River went over its banks into the park. The river rose from Thursday night through the weekend, setting the city's flood protection plan into action.

Feeding time

Robert and Alana Nelson hold a bucket of feed for some yearling cows at their Trossachs-area farm. The Nelsons have around 50 head of Black Angus, and another 50 head of Red Angus and Hereford; the new calving season began near the end of March on the mixed cattle and grain farm.
