WJH, Comp runners off to provincials

A number of cross-country runners from the Weyburn Junior High and Weyburn Comprehensive School placed well in the district running championships held in Wawota on Oct. 3 and qualified to advance to the provincials.

Junior high runners who placed well included Michael Fenwick, who placed first for bantam boys; Atley Roettger, who came in third; Brody Ward, who placed fifth; Meagan Onstad, who came in second for bantam girls, followed by Deni Torgeson and Nichol Thomson in third and fourth respectively; and Nicole Squires, who placed second in midget girls.

Runners from Comp included Gerad Fox and Brett Walbaum, who placed third and fourth for junior boys; Tanya Turner who came in ninth for midget girls; and Stephen Loden, who placed first for senior boys.

The top 10 runners in each category qualified to advance to the provincial cross-country meet, which will be held in Moose Jaw on Saturday, Oct. 13.
