Arrival point for CO2

PanCanadian employee Dave Craigen points out the pipes and gauges at the in-flow and out-flow terminal for the carbon dioxide arriving from Dakota Gasification in Beulah, N.D. The CO2 is sent out from this point in a fanout pattern into the Weyburn oil field, to help recover more oil than would otherwise have been possible with water injection. PanCanadian injects a full-capacity pressure of 95 million pounds of CO2 into the oilfield, but that will be scaled back once the company starts getting CO2 back in its oil and gas production.

Weighing a prize pickerel

Lloyd Searcy of the South Central Health District weighs the pickerel entry from Kelly Van de Sype, which turned out to the winning fish in this category in the health district's fish derby on Saturday. The pickerel weighed in at three pounds 14 ounces, which earned Van de Sype a $100 first place prize. Shirley Wheeler had first place for jackfish, with her fish weighing a total of 12 pounds three ounces, and Michael Bustamante won the junior category with his jackfish. There were about 25 entrants who braved the chilly temperatures and wind to fish in the derby, which was a fund-raiser for the health district's Tatagwa View long-term health care centre to be built on the Souris Valley grounds.
