A "Blue Christmas" special service will be held by Grace United Church for anyone who has experienced a significant loss of some kind, to help them deal with the upcoming holiday season. The service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., and will be an uplifting time, said pastor Gary Goran. "It's for anyone who has had a loss, whether of a significant person, a broken relationship, a job or health; any changes that affect people's joyousness at this time of year," said Goran. The service will be subdued, but will also be uplifting, said Goran, adding there will be special candles lit to recognize the losses felt by the individuals present. The service will be followed by a fellowship as well, which will also be important for many of those who will come to this service, he said. "The time afterwards is just as important for some folks to share with others. If people are alone, it's good for them to see they're not alone," said Goran. |
