Weyburn's first baby of 2003

The Bendtsen family of Carlyle show off the first baby born in Weyburn in 2003, Cade, born on Jan. 2 at 11:53 a.m., weighing nine pounds one ounce, the second New Year's baby for the family. From left to right they are Vanessa, mom Tara with Cade, Jorja and dad Lloyd. Jorja was Weyburn's first baby of the year 2000, and her third birthday was on Jan. 3. As Weyburn's first baby, Cade and his family received several gifts from Weyburn and area merchants.

Rommann rink introduced

The Rommann rink, lead by skip Dave Rommann, walk up the ice to receive their tournament pins after being introduced during opening ceremonies for the Senior Men's and Senior Women's Provincial Curling Championship Thursday evening. The tournament, sponsored by SaskTel Mobility, brought 16 teams from across the province to the Weyburn Curling Club for the chance to go on to the national competition in Medicine Hat. In the photo beginning at left are Dave Rommann, Gary Kreutzer, Brian Bakken and Kevin Bakken.
