The annual meeting for the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has been set for Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the El Rancho banquet room. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails. The dinner begins at 7 p.m., with the business meeting to follow. Chamber manager Carol Coccimiglio said Thursday a representative from Nexans Canada Ltd., winner of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in 2002, and successful bidder on a multi-million dollar American contract, will be guest speaker at the meeting. "Nexans is a very positive business venture," she said. The annual Golden Spike and Golden Service awards will also be presented at the meeting. The Golden Spike is awarded to the individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the community in the preceding year. Last year's winner was Reinhard Eisbrenner, long-time volunteer and organizer in the city. Nomination forms can be picked up from City Hall or the Chamber office. Nominations must be at the Chamber office, at 405 Coteau Ave., before 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, to be considered. The Golden Service Award is presented to the local business that consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service and/or hospitality. Last year's winner was Miles Agencies. Nomination forms for this award will be sent to Chamber members this week. Nominations for Chamber directors will be accepted at the meeting, with new directors to be sworn in that evening. |
