SSETA members get new tools to promote tourism

Weyburn's tourism co-ordinator Donna Hastings said she will have two new devices to help her promote tourism in the city.

At a meeting of the Saskatchewan South East Tourism Association Inc. Wednesday, Hastings learned of a new, live website for members to use to promote their area and business. The website will be up and running by the end of February and will be a great advantage when it comes to advertising events like Weyburn's Wheat Festival later in the year, she said.

Tourism Saskatchewan and the five provincial tourist regions shared the cost of the website.

The second important device announced at the meeting is the hiring of a Regina photographer to create an image bank with 10,000 different photos of the regions. "We expect it to be excellent," said Hastings.

SSETA members will have access to the CD bank for pictures of their region for all of their advertising purposes. About 1,000 of the photos are already completed, with the rest expected to be ready by spring, said Hastings.

Two local members of SSETA sit on its board. Hastings, and Terry Kurucz, general manager of the Sunrise Community Futures Development Corp., are both board members.
