The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show has almost sold out all of the exhibition spaces with only four outdoor spaces left. Marlene Nedelcov, the manager for the Weyburn show, said planning is on schedule with many of the activities to be finalized at the next meeting of the show's executive committee. Nedelcov expects that about 5,000 will attend the show, giving a significant boost to the local economy. She explained that there has already been some inquires regarding hotel accommodations during the show. As well as individuals involved with the oil and gas sector, the general public is also welcome to attend. There is no cost for the public to visit the show, they must however register and wear a tag to go through the exhibition area. "There are a lot of people that go through. We have a lot of oil interest around this community, we have a lot of the public that come and just walk through to see what's new and what's happening," said Nedelcov. The general public along with oil and gas industry representatives will be treated to some interesting exhibits, according to Nedelcov. She's expecting one particular display to generate some significant interest. A display being put up by Weatherford, an oil company with diverse interests in the oilpatch, will take up 14 spaces of the indoor exhibit area and another three outside. The Oil and Gas Show will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, June 4 and 5. |
