About 75 per cent of the booths at the Weyburn Farm Home and Leisure Show, April 11-12, are already booked, said Chamber of Commerce manager Carole Coccimiglio Friday. "There's only about five weeks left before the show." The show is organized by a committee from both the Chamber and the Weyburn Agricultural Society. Coccimiglio said one new event, so far, has been booked for the show, a reality fishing game that originates in Calgary. The Weyburn Car Club will also have three vehicles on exhibition, an antique, a muscle car and a classic vehicle. And the very popular antique appraisal will also return to the show this year, with Vern Reis as appraiser, she said. One of the other very popular events, the Chinese cooking demonstration, will be held at three or four different times at the show this year. Other events are being planned but are not yet confirmed. This will also be the first year for a giant craft show to be held along with the home and leisure show. The craft show will be located in the curling rink. Booths are still available. "There's so much talent around here it should be very interesting," said Coccimiglio. "We're also inviting all organizations and groups to participate in the Saturday chili-bakeoff," she noted. In other events, the Chamber will host a banquet with the Women's Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan, SEREDA, and Sunrise Community Futures Development Corp. on Tuesday, March 25. Guest speaker will be motivational speaker and outstanding curler Joan McCusker. Coccimiglio said a mini-trade show for new and existing businesses will be organized to accompany that event. Location and times will be announced later. |
