Something for everyone

Seminars set for Oil and Gas show in Weyburn

The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show has set the seminars it will be holding over the two-day show on Wednesday and Thursday, June 4 and 5.

Seminars will include interactive demonstrations, geological, and financial discussions in relation to the oil and gas industry.

"I think there's a little bit of something for everyone, especially the general over-view stuff," said Del Mondor, the oil show's committee chair for seminars.

Brandt Industries will be demonstrating their horizontal drill, allowing interested parties to operate the drill.

Mondor thinks this will be one of the more popular activities at the show.

EnCana will also be holding an update on their carbon dioxide flood project, something Mondor said is becoming a staple at the show.

There will be a total of eight seminars and two major luncheon presentations during the show.

While most of the seminars are geared towards people already in the oil and gas industry, some of them will be of interest to the general public.

One in particular will be of interest to those interested in investing in the oil and gas industry.

RBC will be putting on a seminar on the futures market, half of which will be general information on commodities investing.

The other half of the seminar will deal specifically with oil markets and to explain to investors what a bank requires from an individual or group hoping to get into the oil business.

Mondor expects there will be a lot of interest in the investing seminar from people in the Weyburn area, both from established oilpatch companies and from new investors.

The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show is the second largest show of its kind in Canada and is put on once every two years.

Show organizers expect the show will attract over 4,000 people and will have a positive impact on the local economy.
