Two adults sentenced for break-and-enters, thefts

Two young adults separately facing charges including break-and-enter and theft were sentenced in Weyburn provincial court on Monday.

Allison Olson, 24, pleaded guilty to her charges and was sentenced to the time she has served in remand, about four months in custody. She was charged with theft of two vehicles, break-and-enter and breach of probation, impaired driving and driving while suspended.

In addition she was given a suspended sentence and probation for two years, fined $770 for impaired driving, $30 for driving while suspended and ordered to pay restitution on the deductible for the stolen vehicles, one of she crashed near Yellow Grass.

The Crown noted that one day in remand is counted as two days of normal custody in a prison facility.

David Anderson, 19, was also sentenced to time served in remand custody, about a month and a half, for charges arising from Weyburn and Estevan.

His charges included break, enter and theft from Steve's Snowmobile Shop, Jay's Moving and Storage and the KFC restaurant, all on Jan. 31 in Weyburn, as for break-and-enter charges from Estevan and Bienfait areas.

He was placed on two year's probation, and is to have no contact with his co-accused.

One of the young offenders charged with assaulting a person with a baseball bat, assault causing bodily harm and unlawful confinement will have a preliminary hearing on Oct. 16.

Gerald Huffman, 22, will appear in court on May 5 for sentencing on charges including theft and fraudulent use of credit cards, and theft of a candy machine from the Weyburn Inn.
