Comp students make pizzas to raise money for grad 2003

Grad parents and students are reminded of the pizza-making party on Sunday, April 6, starting at 9 a.m. All graduates who sold pizzas are expected to be there or have a substitute, to make the pizzas. Delivery to the customers will take place in the afternoon.

Tickets for the Wizard of Oz will go on sale at the Weyburn Farm, Home and Leisure Show, which will be held the weekend of April 11-12.

This past week saw the end of the basketball season and the start of the badminton season at the Weyburn Comprehensive School.

As well, a number of students did very well at the Southeast Regional Science Fair, held in Fillmore. At the science fair, WCS students captured six of a possible 12 medals in the senior category. Darren Daku and Ryan Claffey took a gold medal, while Matt Mickleborough along with Megan Thorn and Christan Simpson captured silvers. Joel Ror and Matt Hoffman, Drew Krainyk and Jason Hoium and Matt Erickson won bronze medals.

In badminton, the team attended a tournament in Yellow Grass where Jeff Moser took a gold medal in boys singles, Bucky Schneider and Stefanie Giroux captured a silver in mixed doubles while Ali Anderson placed third in girls singles.

The senior girls basketball team ended up with a bronze medal at Hoopla, losing their first game to Melfort and then defeating Regina Johnson.

An exceptionally large crowd attended the Grade 9 night held this week. Students and parents were familiarized with what to expect when they arrive at the school in September and also given information to help them make subject choices. WCS students are reminded to apply for scholarships and also to get their application in for post-secondary training as soon as possible.

On Friday, March 28 there will be no school for students as it is a professional development day for teachers.

The Stars of the Festival performance will take place in the Cafetorium on Tuesday, April 1, starting at 7 p.m.
