Phantom Tourist to return to city for Tourism Week

The Phantom Tourist will be haunting Weyburn again this year throughout the week of June 1 to 7.

This is provincial Tourism Week and its purpose is "to make people aware of what's happening around the province," said Donna Hastings, coordinator of tourism projects for the City of Weyburn.

The phantom tourist is "somebody who goes around and visits some of our local retailers and restaurants," and evaluates the level of service they receive.

"Are you greeted when you walk in the door, does the clerk smile," are some of the criteria included in the evaluation, she said.

At the end of the week, the company and individual person who provides the best service receives an award.

Businesses can also request to see their evaluation after the week is through.
