Gathering for a charity ride

Members of the Weyburn Independent Riders and guests gather at River Park on Saturday before starting on their charity poker run. The run took the riders east to Stoughton, south to Estevan and back in to Weyburn by the evening, where the proceeds of the ride in the amount of $2,186 were turned over to the Paul-Heffley Trust Fund. The fund was set up to benefit the three surviving children of Kelly Paul and Trent Heffley, who died in a Yellow Grass house fire last November.

Oil Patch Award winners

The four inductees to the Saskatchewan Petroleum Hall of Fame, as well as the Oilmen of the Year award recipients, gather together following the Oil Patch Awards ceremony held Wednesday evening at the Weyburn Curling Club. In the back row from left are Weyburn Oil Show board chair Darcy Cretin, Les Avery (SE Sask Oilman of the Year), Saskatchewan Oil Industry board of governers president Al Schreiner, and Clayton Woitas (Saskatchewan Oilman of the Year). In the front row from left are Hall of Fame inductees Frank Proto, Ken Lee, Jerry Mainil and Nasie Schnell.
