Credit Union to celebrate milestone with street party

The Weyburn Credit Union will be marking the last day of school and first day of summer vacation with a barbecue and street party, to help mark a major milestone achieved by the institution this year: $200 million in assets.

The event will be held on Friday, June 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Coteau Avenue in front of the Credit Union building.

"We'll have Coteau Avenue blocked off, and there will be entertainment with singing and guitar playing throughout the event. A lunch will be provided with hamburgers and hot dogs, a drink and chips for a toonie, starting at 11 a.m.," explained CEO Al Messer, detailing the party plans set in place so far. The net proceeds from the event will go to the Family Place.

There will be children's games available, face-painting, balloons, and a special cake will be served at noon. The cake will be cut by board chairman Eliford Mott, and will be served to all who attend.

With the achievement of $200 million in assets, Messer said all members of the community are invited to attend, whether they are Credit Union members or not.
