Celebrating Canada's birthday

From left, they are Jessica Walker, Riley Loucks, Michelle Corrigan and Nikolas Georgacacos. The city and area will mark Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1, with activities at the Leisure Centre and fireworks at dusk, and for these students, the start of the summer holidays.

Getting cropped for cancer

The last three people to get their heads shaved sit patiently as the hairdressers work on them at the Cops for Cancer head-shaving fund-raiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Those getting shaved are, from left, Tammy Funk of the Weyburn Youth Centre, being shaved by Tania Grams; Rev. John Ferrier being shaved by Shannon Erickson; and Debbie LaRose of Tyvan, being shaved by Rae-Anne Davis. This is an annual feature of the Cancer Society's Cancer Jamboree, held Saturday and Sunday at Nickle Lake Regional Park. The Cops for Cancer fund-raiser brought in $11,700 from February until Sunday afternoon for cancer research.
