The Trossachs Gospel Camp will be celebrating both its 90th anniversary and Canada Day with a number of events planned for Tuesday, July 1. The Canada Day celebration will include a ceremony at 3 p.m., which will go over the past 90 years of the Gospel Camp. Master of ceremonies for the meeting will be Rev. Rodger Halvorsen. Dignitaries on hand at the camp to bring greetings include Souris-Moose Mountain MP Roy Bailey, Weyburn-Big Muddy MLA Brenda Bakken, Sen. Len Gustafson and Eric Dorsch, RM of Brokenshell councillor. Also, Rev. Gil Killam, moderator of the Apostolic Churches of Pentecost of Canada, will bring greetings. Willard Mitchell will speak on behalf of the Full Gospel Bible School of Eston. The ceremony will be followed by a banquet at 5 p.m. and a baseball game at 6 p.m. There will also be morning and evening services with Rev. Rick Parkyn of Regina at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. There will also be a number of camps put on throughout the summer months this year at Trossachs. The first camp offered will be a 55 and over Senior's Camp, which begins today, June 25, with registration starting at 4 p.m. It will continue until Saturday, June 28. The deadline for pre-registration has already passed for this camp. The 90th anniversary Gospel Camp will run from Saturday, June 28 to Sunday, July 6. Guest pastors will be Randy Wengel of the Winnipeg Zion Church (June 28-30), Rick Parkyn (July 1-4) and Femi Ogunrinde (July 5-6). There will then be a children's camp offered from Monday, July 7, to Thursday, July 10, with a number of fun activities planned over the three days. The camp fee is $50. Finally, there will be a teen camp offered from Friday, July 11, to Thursday, July 17. The camp will be administered by director Irv Dyck, a youth pastor from Thunder Bay, Ont., and formerly of Weyburn. The activities will include swimming, devotions, team sports, firesides, music and so on. The fee is $75. The Trossachs Gospel Camp is roughly 22.5 kilometres west of Weyburn on Highway No. 13 and 3.2 kilometres east of Trossachs. |
