Stoughton Daze offers lots of activities on the weekend

The annual celebration called Stoughton Daze is overflowing with events, fun and activities for the upcoming weekend.

Baseball will be the overriding theme as the weekend will feature a slo-pitch tournament, men's hard ball games, ladies fastball and boys minor ball.

The slo-pitch tournament starts on Friday, July 4 and continues on Saturday.

There will be a Legion dance on Friday as well, featuring the band "Centre Line" from 9-1 a.m. Tickets are $8 for singles and $15 for couples.

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Stoughton fire department will start all the events on Saturday, July 5 from 7-9 a.m. at the fire hall. A parade down Main Street featuring the Lions Pride B and C bands follows at 9:30 a.m.

The Agricultural Society will set up exhibits in Memorial Hall on Saturday from 11-4 p.m. and the museum will be open at 9 a.m. with displays.

Men's hard ball games take place throughout Saturday, along with a dunk tank at the fair grounds, a toonie swim at the new pool and a pet show at 1 p.m. on Main Street near Memorial Hall. Bingo will start at 1 p.m. at the Drop-in Centre on Main Street.

A roast beef supper will be available at the fair grounds, beginning at 5 p.m. and the evening will end with a bang: a fireworks display will begin at 10:30 p.m.

On Sunday, July 6, boys minor ball games will take place, as well as ladies fastball games. A Texas scramble golf tournament will start at 1 p.m.

There is an entry fee to the fair grounds on Saturday only, which is $3 for adults and $1 for students ages six-12. Children preschool age get in free.
