Weyburn was a lot drier and a little hotter last month than July usually has been for the past 50 years, but no records were set. According to information gathered at the Weyburn water filtration plant for Environment Canada, the city received only 24 mm of precipitation, compared to 60 mm which is the long term running average since 1952-53 when records were first kept in the city. The record high precipitation for July was set in 1990 when 215.8 mm of rain fell, and the record low was set in 1989 when only 6.4 mm. fell. The mean maximum temperature last month was 28.74 C, compared with a long term running average of 26.41 from 1952-53 when records were first kept. The mean temperature was 13.10 C, compared with 12.18 C. On July 15, the 34 C temperature tied with a record set in both 1960 and 1964. The highest temperature recorded in July during the past 50 years is 39 C, recorded in 1975, 1985, and 1989. The highest temperature this year in July was 34.5, recorded on the first, 23rd and 28th of the month. The lowest temperature recorded in July over the past 50 years is 1 C, recorded on July 7 in 1958. The lowest this year in this past month was 7 C, recorded on July 8. |
