Summer Games committee needs partners for souvenirs

The 2004 Saskatchewan Summer Games revenue services committee is looking for partners to work on a souvenir program.

The Games will be coming to Weyburn August 7 to 14, 2004 and a high number of visitors are expected.

This will be the largest participant event ever held in Weyburn, bringing an estimated 2,500 athletes, 200 coaches and 10,000 visitors to the city.

The souvenirs will be provided to the public leading up to and including the week of the Games.

Souvenir items will range from shorts and T-shirts to ball caps, coffee mugs, tattoos, pins and more.

The Summer Games are held every four years and include young athletes from all over Saskatchewan, and promotes amateur sport, culture and involves the entire community in which it takes place.

It has been found that spectators to the Games in other cities have spent an estimated $1.7 million and a number of businesses experienced increases in sales during the Games.

Any firms or businesses interested in providing souvenirs can contact Mario Coccimiglio or Chantelle Ernst at the Games Office in the Weyburn Square Mall.

Deadline for businesses to submit proposals for the souvenir program is Friday, September 26, 2003 at 4 p.m.
