Youth Centre to host a back-to-school band bash

The Weyburn Youth Centre is going to throw one last party before school starts. The back-to-school bash is set to take place on Saturday, August 23 from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Nine different bands will be jamming through the late hours of the evening to punk and rock music, or "garage band kind of tunes," as organizer Tammy Funk describes it.

The list of bands includes three local groups: Four Way Stop, Saving Daylight and Away from Here.

Dirtbread, Good Sam Park, Nine Cents Short, Burning Sophie, Short Story and On Trial, bands from around Saskatchewan, will also take the stage and a drama group will put on a performance.

There will be hamburgers and hot dogs on the barbecue and the Youth Centre facilities will be open for people to play pool, arcade games or just sit around and relax.

The event is open to all ages and the only rules are the ones that apply to the Youth Centre, including no alcohol allowed.

The event is $5 for the entire evening and it will take place in the parking lot next to the Youth Centre at the Exhibition Grounds.
