Santa's earliest delivery

Capt. Raelene Russell of the Salvation Army accepts a sleigh full of toys from Santa Claus (a.k.a. Miles Snelling) at the conclusion of the Weyburn Independent Riders' annual Toy Run at River Park on Saturday. The riders met at the Weyburn Junior High parking lot, drove through the city, including through the downtown area, before ending at the park. The toys included $200 worth bought by a donation from Nexens employees who recycled the pop cans collected in their coffee room.

No fear of goldfish

Christine Pineo laughs as her fifth and last live goldfish flips in her fingers before she downed it, as part of the culminating event of the Fear Factor challenge held at the Weyburn Youth Centre on Friday evening. A number of unusual items were consumed in the different challenges, including a liver-and-slug milkshake, dead grasshoppers, sardines, cod liver oil and cow brains. The Fear Factor event was held between two concerts at the centre, with Weyburn's Saving Daylight and Briercrest's Even.
