Season ticket sales below normal for Red Wings

Sales of Red Wings season tickets for 2003-2004 are below normal for this time of the year, says Weyburn Red Wing president Winston Bailey.

The Wings' regular season kicks off this Friday, Sept. 19, with an away game versus the Yorkton Terriers. However, the Wings don't play another home game until Saturday, Oct. 3, when most of the Colosseum renovations will be done.

Bailey said this long road stretch may be part of the reason for low sales, which must pick up within the next couple of weeks.

Prior to starting the exhibition season, the Wings stated they must sell between 650 to 700 season tickets this year to finish in a comfortable financial position.

The Wings currently have a number of deals available for purchasing season tickets, including discounts offered on individual and family ticket prices with the purchase of Co-op Cash, a fake currency that may be used to buy groceries at the Weyburn Co-op.

The team is also offering season tickets at the cost of $1 each. A purchaser is eligible for this deal if they purchase a regular ticket, along with $300 a month in Co-op Cash; they may then buy an additional ticket for only $1.

Regular season ticket prices are $195 for adults, $180 for seniors, $115 for students and $60 for children. A family package is $425, including two adults and three children.
