Teams wanted for Oct. 16 chicken wing-eating event

You can always count on wing night to be a busy evening at any establishment you walk into, so the Family Place is hoping that their own wing night on Thursday, Oct. 16, is going to be just as popular.

The Family Place is urging residents to form teams and sign up for their first annual Wing-A-Thon. The event will be held at the Family Place, starting at 6:30 p.m.

This will be a hard-core chicken wing-eating marathon, with prizes handed out in a number of categories, like most wings eaten by an individual, most wings eaten by a team and wings eaten the fastest by an individual.

There will be a number of prizes available, such as tickets for four to the Casino Regina Show Lounge and gift certificates for Stagecoach Tours.

Those wanting to enter are urged to draw together teams of five people. Space is limited to ten teams of five.

Each person on each team must have a minimum of $100 in pledges, or $500 for the entire team. All donations of $10 or more will be tax deductible.

The Family Place will be organizing competitions between different teams, such as the City Police versus the Weyburn Firefighters or Red Wings versus the Weyburn Inn Devils.

For more information or to register your team, call the Family Place.

There will be a few varieties of wings available, including buffalo and honey garlic, made fresh on site by volunteer cooks. There will also be "suicide wings" available for those brave few willing to eat them.
