The Weyburn Comprehensive Eagles girls soccer team travelled to a tournament in Swift Current over the weekend, where they won one and lost two games. In the first game on Friday, the team played the Notre Dame Hounds and lost 2-1. Coach Scott Benning said they tied late in the game but the Hounds scored on a corner kick in the last minute to beat the Eagles. On Saturday, the team began play against the Shaunavon Silhouettes, losing 1-0 to them. In the third game, the Eagles played the Delisle Rebels, beating them 6-0. Britt Pegg scored all six goals. Benning said the girls played well. "They were three really good games. The other coaches and I were very pleased with the way the games were played." Prior to the weekend tourney, the girls hosted Moose Jaw Vanier at Jubilee Park late on Thursday afternoon, and lost 2-0. The team traveled to Moose Jaw on Tuesday after school for regular league play against Riverview Collegiate. On Thursday, they will host the Moose Jaw Peacock High School. This weekend, the Eagles will host their own tournament at Jubilee Park. The games will be held at 2 and 4 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday. |
