RCMP investigate rollover, driver is seriously injured

The Weyburn RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle rollover that sent a Carlyle man to hospital with serious injuries on Monday night.

The police were called to the scene, located nine kilometres east of Weyburn on Highway 13, around 10:30 p.m.

A 24-year-old male from Carlyle was the only occupant in the car, and was taken to hospital in Regina.

The RCMP are also investigating a report of a pair of break-ins in Midale, one at the Harry O. Memorial Arena and the other to the Midale Library, on Sept. 20.

Vandals splashed white marine paint on the rink surface and smeared it on the plexiglass in the rink. There was minor damage at the library.

The RCMP are asking for the public's assistance, noting the culprits likely had white paint on their person, clothing or shoes.

If anyone has information about these incidents, they are asked to contact the RCMP, or call the toll-free Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers tips line at 1-800-222-8477. Callers do not have to reveal their identity, and a cash reward of up to $2,000 is paid for information that leads to an arrest. Calls are not traced or recorded.

In the meantime, city resident Adam Kiraly, 21, had a show-cause hearing in Moose Jaw on Sept. 23, and was remanded into custody. He will reappear in Weyburn provincial court on Thursday, Oct. 2.

His charges include assault with a weapon, obstructing justice, three breaches of undertakings or promises, two counts of uttering threats, three breaches of probation and possession of prohibited weapons.

Canada Customs and Revenue Agency reported two arrests made at the North Portal border crossing, after investigating two new school busses being brought into Canada for delivery to Alberta.

The customs' detector dog indicated the presence of drugs, and marijuana was found inside one of the buses, and inside the shoes of the second driver. The drivers, from North Carolina, were charged and fined $75 and $105 respectively.
