Date set for fourth Family Place Festival of Trees

The Family Place is looking for trees: Christmas trees, to be exact.

The organization's has set the date for its fourth annual Festival of Trees, to be held Thursday, Nov. 27 in Weyburn Square Mall.

"We are once again looking for organizations, businesses and individuals to help us out by donating trees, wreaths or silent auction items," said Donnita Maas, speaking for the fund-raising committee of Family Place.

"We have had some very wonderful displays over the years and we are sure that this year's event will not disappoint us," she said.

Although it's early, this is a good time to think about Christmas, now that the children are back in school and the leaves are starting to turn, said Maas.

"The trees can be of any size or shape, real or artificial, as elaborately decorated as you desire," she said.

"The wreaths can also be of your choice. Silent Auction items can be whatever your creative juices can come up with. They could be baskets with a specific theme, a Christmas centrepiece, or a tree-topper: the more creative the better," said Maas

Prizes will be awarded for the item which receives the highest bid and the item that is the most popular after a vote by the viewing public. All items will be on display for about two weeks before Nov. 27.

The deadline for participating with an entry in the festival is Friday, Nov. 7.
