Celebrating Block Parent Week

The children of the members of Beta Sigma Phi Beta Theta gather around Weyburn city police officer Dana Pretzer on Thursday Block Parent Week, on Oct. 20-24. In the back, from the left, are two-year old Caroline Manning, five-year old Colton and eight-year old Brayden Hill; two-year old Cooper Kopec, and two-year old Logan Medwed. In the front row are Hannah Shanks, 4 months; Alexi Sirounis, six months; and Sawyer Kopec, three weeks old. Pretzer will visit Weyburn's schools this week with information about the program. Beta Theta members also will host the second annual Treasures of Home Trade show and craft sale at McKenna Hall on Saturday, Nov. 1, with proceeds going toward the Block Parents' organization.

Miles Agencies has anniversary fund-raiser

Peter Andrews, co-owner of Miles Agencies, (centre) presents the proceeds of their 15th anniversary beef luncheon to Captain United (Preston Roy) and Lady Charity (Rachelle Kvamme) on Wednesday. The fund-raiser brought in $625 for Communithon. The pair are the mascots for this year's United Way Communithon, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, at the Legion Hall with 33 hours of live entertainment.
