WCS junior boys finish in Balgonie

The Comp Eagles junior boys volleyball squad participated in their final tournament in Balgonie over the weekend, finishing fourth overall.

Weyburn finished third out of the round robin and advanced against Lumsden in the semi-finals, losing out in three sets.

They then played Estevan in the bronze medal match and lost in two straight sets.

Ironically, the junior boys had defeated Estevan a few days earlier at the Redcoat Series volleyball competition, downing their opponents three games to two in a best-of-five series.

"It was a good season The whole objective was to improve and we did. We improved both our skills and our team play, and that's really what it was all about," said coach Wade Oberg.

Meanwhile, the Comp junior girls' split squad competed in their second-last tournament this weekend.

The junior girls hosted a mini-tournament at the Comp with Estevan and Montmartre. Estevan beat out Weyburn in the finals.

The Comp junior girls volleyball squad participate in their final competition on Saturday, Nov. 8, when the Midale Central School senior girls team hosts their own tournament at the Weyburn Comp. Play will get underway at 9 a.m.
