The 12 member curling clubs in Region 3 of the Saskatchewan Curling Association (SCA) have set regional playoff dates, and are making plans to celebrate the century mark for the SCA, with the Weyburn Curling Club also turning 100 this year.

The clubs in Region 3 include Griffin, Weyburn, Bengough, Ceylon, Minton, Ogema, Avonlea, Kronau, Milestone, Fillmore, Osage and Stoughton.

The Junior Men and Junior Women will have their regional playdowns held in Fillmore on the weekend of Nov. 28-30, with the deadline for entries on Monday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.

The Senior Men's regional playdowns will be held at Kronau, also on the Nov. 28-30 weekend, with the deadline for entries Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Kronau will also host the Scott Tournament of Hearts' regional playdowns in January.

Griffin will host the Provincial Natural Ice Playdowns in January, while the Masters' Men's zone playdowns will be held in Weyburn, also in January. The Juvenile regional playdowns will be held in February, also in Weyburn.

The Mixed regional playdowns will be held in Bengough in February, while the site for the Intermediate Ladies in February has not been finalized.

As part of the 100th anniversary of the SCA, members were shown at the annual general meeting the design for the 100th anniversary pins. At the Scott Tournament of Hearts in Balgonie the 100th anniversary wine was showcased. Clubs can also purchase anniversary wine stoppers and beer steins, and there will be a gala banquet to mark the 100th year at Queensbury Downs in Regina on April 17, 2004.

The Rock, Roll and Raise skills competition will be held for two age groups: juvenile, or 17 and under, and novice, 14 and under. The competition is comprised of three shots: draw to the button, hit-and-stay, and a raise shot. The three levels of competition are club, region and provincial.

The top-scoring individual in each age category will win a weekend pass to the Nokia Brier in Saskatoon. Club competitions must be held by Jan. 1, 2004. The Region 3 competition will be held in Fillmore on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, during the Men's regional playdowns.
