Comprehensive students to enter Festival of Trees event

Students at the Weyburn Comprehensive School are preparing to have trees entered for the Family Place's annual fund-raiser, the Festival of Trees.

The school will send three trees, one from each grade, to join the 15 trees confirmed to be in the festival's auction of trees and wreaths.

The Comp students are working to outdo the other two grades and gain the honour of having the best tree from WCS. The three trees, along with the others entered in the festival, will be available for viewing from Nov. 20 to 27, and the festival will take place on Thursday, Nov. 27. The display is in the former Sears location in the Weyburn Square Mall.

Everyone is reminded of the Fowl Supper to be held at the Comp School on Monday, Nov. 24. The career fair will follow on Thursday, Nov. 27, and the fall stage production of M*A*S*H will take place on Nov. 27, 28 and 29.

The student-parents-teacher interviews will take place tonight, Nov. 12 at the Comp, starting at 6:45 p.m. for those families with last names from A to K, and then at 8 p.m. for those families L to Z.

Both boys and girls volleyball teams defeated Estevan this past week in district playoffs, and are now off to provincials. The girls team has placed second the last two year and are looking for a good finish this year in North Battleford.

The boys will take part in the 5A provincials in Saskatoon. The SRC will host a pep rally on Thursday, Nov. 13, to help boost the spirit of the teams before they leave for provincials.

Basketball will start up immediately next week, with the first tournament at the end of the month.
