Roughly three and a half weeks after Communithon, the Weyburn United Way has exceeded their fund-raising total with a total of $118,000. The 22nd annual Communithon on Oct. 24-25 raised a total of $103,638 in pledges for the United Way, a little less than their desired goal of $110,003. In the past few weeks, however, several major donations have been made by Crown Corporations, as well as a nearly $5,000 pledge from EnCana and their employees. SaskEnergy employees donated $2,088 through payroll deductions, and Wal-Mart also made a $1,000 donation at their grand opening on Thursday. Proceeds from the Communithon are distributed amongst the United Way's member agencies. |
