Milestone estate makes gift to Regina Pasqua Hospital

The Pearl Renwick estate from Milestone has made a donation of $360,000 towards medical equipment to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation.

The funds were used to buy state-of-the-art equipment for the Gastro Investigational (G.I.) Unit at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina.

Until now, the closest equipment of this kind was located in Calgary. The executor for Pearl Renwick and her friends recently had a tour of the hospital to see the equipment.

The equipment includes an endoscopic ultrasound system, which is vital in diagnosis and providing less invasive procedures for G.I. patients from across southern Saskatchewan.

The new system will have an impact on patient care, said Lorie McGeough, G.I. Unit coordinator, noting this equipment is one of the most sophisticated methods of detecting and treating esophageal cancers and biliary diseases, and will improve the quality and quantity of life for many Saskatchewan people.
