Weyburn Devils win two games vs. Bienfait, Carlyle

The Weyburn Devils secured two home victories this weekend versus the Bienfait Coalers and Carlyle Cougars.

The Devils shot down a beleaguered Bienfait squad 11-4 on Friday night at the Colosseum. The score was a little deceiving, however, as the Coalers were missing their starting goaltender and several of their players due to injury and sickness.

"They were fighting an uphill battle right from the start," said Devils' coach Doug Lumb.

Weyburn got a little stiffer competition on Sunday night against Carlyle, who battled the Devils to an 8-3 victory.

It was a good "end-to-end game," said Lumb, with plenty of hits and fast-paced hockey. Ultimately, the Devils put to work all four of their main scoring lines, with eight different players accumulating goals.

"We've got some depth there. Other teams, if they only have two lines, can't keep up," said Lumb.

This upcoming weekend, the Devils have a home-and-home series with Wawota.

The Devils play in Wawota on Friday, Dec. 12, and return to the Weyburn Colosseum on Sunday, Dec. 14. The game starts at 8 p.m.
