Eagles unbeaten at Prince Albert

It's two in a row for the Weyburn Comp Eagles senior boys' basketball team.

The Comp Eagles won their second consecutive tournament victory this weekend at Prince Albert Carlton High School, defeating the host team in the finals 77-45.

Brian Loden led the scoring with 19 points, while Josh Williams and Cassidy Neilson contributed 16 points apiece. Drew Krainyk also chipped in 15 points.

Neilson was also instrumental in defending Carlton's top scorer, while Williams and Loden did a great job of rebounding all through the tournament, said coaches Len Williams and Landon Emberley.

The Eagles advanced to the final by defeating Prince Albert St. Mary's by a score of 65-53.

In the first round, the Comp also defeated North Battleford by over 20 points.

The coaches said their three decisive victories resulted from some excellent team defence, strong rebounding and consistent scoring from Loden and Williams.

The Eagles record is now 8-1, having won the Martin Invitational Tournament over the Dec. 14-15 weekend.

The team is now off for Christmas, though some players are slated to hit the court for the annual Alumni Basketball game this Saturday, Dec. 20.

The game begins at 7 p.m., though all alumni wanting to play are asked to show up by 6:30 p.m.
