The Weyburn Red Wings are kicking off 2004 with a home-and-home series with their rivals, the Estevan Bruins.

First, the Red Wings visit the Bruins' home turf on Thursday, Jan. 1, with the game starting at 3 p.m.

Following the road game, Weyburn returns to the Colosseum on Friday, Jan. 2. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the Red Wings' first action since defeating the Melville Millionaires 5-4 on Dec. 19 at the Colosseum.

Rick Wood, Jereme Tendler, Cody Wasik, Greg Park and Ryan Bram combined for all five of Weyburn's goals against the Millionaires.

Jerid Corbett, Cale Louden, Clayton Bastura, Shayne Emmons, Tendler, Park and Bram were credited with one or more assists.

The Wings owed their victory largely to converting three of seven power play opportunities.

Cale Jordison played net for Weyburn, receiving 35 shots on goal. Weyburn made 33 shots against Melville.

Following the home-and-home with Estevan, Weyburn hosts the Yorkton Terriers on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
