December had average weather in Weyburn area

The month of December, 2003 was an average one in terms of both high and low temperatures and precipitation levels, compared to both the past 10 years and the past 50 years.

According to information gathered by the city of Weyburn's water filtration plant for Environment Canada, no records were broken in December.

The average high temperature in the past month was -4 C, with the average high temperature in December over the past 10 years hitting -5.5 and over the past 50 years hitting -6.5.

The average low temperature in the city during December was -14, with the average low temperature over the past 10 years reaching -15.5 and over the past 50 years reaching -16.5.

The maximum temperature during December was 4.5 on Dec. 20, while the minimum was -29 on Dec. 31.

Weyburn received 21.4 mm of water equivalent during December, compared to an average of 19.4 mm in December over the past 10 years and 18.4 mm over the past 50 years.

Over the past 10 years, the highest amount of precipitation received in December was 37.8 mm, in 1996.

The record high precipitation for December is 38.1, set in 1982 while the record low for the month is 1.3 mm, set in 1954.

The city received a total of 316.4 mm of water equivalent during 2003.
