The school year at the Weyburn Comprehensive School resumed with classes on Monday, starting off the last two weeks of school before the end-of-semester exams, which start on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Exams will continue for one week. The second semester will start on Thursday, Jan. 29. A mini-science fair was held in the Cafetorium on Tuesday, and there will be an art show in the library on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. Also on Jan. 14, renowned Canadian boxer George Chuvalo will pay a visit to the school to speak to the students about his experiences, particularly about drug and alcohol abuse. Between now and exams, both the basketball teams and the school debate team will be taking in tournaments. The debate team is off to a tournament on Friday in Melville. The senior boys basketball team will be in Estevan this weekend, the senior girls will be in Caronport and the junior girls are at a tournament in Assiniboia. All graduates and their parents are reminded of an important meeting on Monday, Jan. 12 in the Cafetorium, starting at 7:30 p.m. |
