Opening of revamped children's section

Head librarian Michele Fedyk, at left, and library board chair Dianne Sander, far right, watch as council representative Gary Frederickson cuts the ribbon to open the redesigned children's section at the Weyburn Public Library on Wednesday afternoon. Watching from behind are project sponsors John McMurdo of New Age Electronics, Randy Bangsund of Bangsund Construction, Joyce Kellett of Quota Club International and Young Fellows Club representative Charles Ries. A total of $6,125 was raised in donations from organizations, businesses and individuals for the new "kid-friendly" children's section. The upper level of the library has most of the adult reading material, including fiction and non-fiction books and magazines. The historic Weyburn Wheel mural is also displayed in the library, which until recently was housed in the old City Hall.

Most of Confederation Drive, meanwhile, was filled with drifts caused by Friday's blizzard.
