The Weyburn Credit Union will be publishing a cookbook to help commemorate its 60th anniversary this year. There will be a number of activities ongoing through 2004 to mark this milestone, and the gathering of favourite recipes is one of the first projects to kick off the year. The Credit is asking city and area residents to take part by submitting their family's favourite recipe or recipes by the deadline of Saturday, Feb. 28. The recipes will be put together in a collector's edition cookbook which will be available for sale later this year on a cost-recovery basis. "We're going to be having a barbecue in late June like we did last year, and we're hoping the cookbook will be available then. With any money that is raised, the proceeds will be donated to a charity," said Paula Jacob, cookbook chair for the Credit Union. There are recipe submission forms available at the Weyburn and Lang branches, as well as on the Credit Union's web-site at www.weyburn.cu.sk.ca, and there are eight categories listed, including an open category, "Extra Special," said Jacob. "We're hoping to get as many as possible, with people sending family favourite recipes," said Jacob, adding there is no limit to how many a person can submit. Other events the Weyburn Credit Union will be holding through the year include a Diamond Anniversary Sweepstakes, through which members can win prizes, a summer barbecue, an art and photography contest, and later this fall, a theatrical production called. |
