Attendance at the Soo Line Historical Museum was down slightly in 2003 over 2002, but requests for tourist information was up, according to curator manager Lavine Stepp. In a report presented to the museum society's annual meeting on Feb. 2, Stepp said 191 students toured the museum on school tours through the year and 161 other bus tours and groups went through the gathered history on display. Over 1,200 volunteer hours were contributed to the museum last year, she said. The museum sponsored a Heritage Day tea on Feb. 16, and participated in tourism awareness week, national Aboriginal Day, the Weyburn Wheat Festival, and Veterans Week. Art Wallace was elected president of the society at the meeting, with Jim Nedelcov serving as vice-president for 2004, Brenda King as secretary, and Louise Rumball as treasurer. Three-year directors are Art Wallace, Dave Carlson, Jeannine Kater and Joanne Walker. Two-year directors are Mary Konotopetz, Louise Rumball, Jim Nedelcov, and Dorothy Duthie. One-year directors are Carla Kristensen, Brenda King, Eleanor Nielson, and Mary Szeponski. Committee reports on other museum activities were also presented at the meeting. |
